Social work with the elderly in rural areas

Abstract. Nowadays, the global and stable development of the aging population trend, which puts before society a number of requirements of an economic, psychological, and social nature, the solution of which should be primarily aimed at providing assistance to elder citizens, as one of the most vulnerable categories of the population. Special attention should be paid to the citizens living in rural areas who face a wider range of problems in their lives such as the lack of diversity of services provided, the lack or unskilled specialists, the poor roads, the lack of transport, the mobile communications, etc. In this article, we will consider the main approaches to the study of aging, the features of rural areas, distinguish between the concepts of professional and non-professional social work, and analyze the results of an empirical study.
