Abstract. The article deals with one of the key debatable problems of the XX and XXI centuries – the problem of the “another”. Otherness, as a philosophical topic, is touched upon by many philosophical and religious movements, as a sphere addressing the existence of the human being himself. Being in the world and being for anothers is included in the range of problems of gnoseology and epistemology, which include the works of the German philosopher Edmund Husserl and the French philosopher, psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan. The works of the latter are devoted to various issues, including the issue of the “another". This article attempts to compare these approaches in relation to the problem of otherness, the problem of the “another”, fundamentally different from “me", in all “my” manifestations, using the example of Ingmar Bergman's film "The Wolf Hour". A practical analysis of the film based on the methodology discussed in the article will allow us to identify, and then compare, the main provisions of the approaches that have so strongly influenced the entire philosophical discourse of our time.
