Abstract. Based on the available literature and some documents from the National Archives of the Republic of Karelia, the article attempts to restore the biography of the famous figure of Finnish social democracy, revolutionary, writer, translator and Marxist historian Lauri Letonmäki. Particular attention is paid to the episode of exclusion from the party and the death of the hero. It is noted that this episode requires closer study.
