Korelsky uyezd (Keksholm County) of the XVII century in Russian and Finnish historiography

 Abstract. The author analyzes the works of Russian and Finnish historians devoted to the situation of the Korelsky uyezd (Keksholm County) in the XVII century. This work is the first step in clarifying the degree of study of the dramatic period in the history of the Karelian people at different stages of the development of Russian and Finnish historiography. The author analyzes in detail and compares selected historiographical sources of the first quarter, the middle of the XX century and the beginning of the XXI century. In conclusion the author points out the inconsistency of historiography in the assessment of the situation of the Karelian region in the XVII century.
