Abstract. This study examined the relationship between nomophobia and trait and state anxiety among the students of the Medical Institute at Petrozavodsk State University (n=173; 74% female, 26% male). Data were collected using the NMP-Q and the Spielberger–Khanin scale. The mean nomophobia score in the study group was 68.4 ±12.7, and the mean anxiety score was 90.3 ±18.5. A direct positive correlation was found between the fear of being without a mobile phone and both forms of anxiety. Male students scored significantly higher on all scales, indicating heightened vulnerability. These results support the need for preventive programs at the university.
Keywords: nomophobia, anxiety, medical students, digital addiction, psychological health
