Abstract. This article reports findings of a study of role models and personal identity in Generations X and Z and explores their relationship. Its relevance reflects the insufficient attention given to role models in the psychological literature and the inconsistency of data obtained on Generation Z. The findings demonstrate that the two generations differ in their choice of role models, yet their personal identity shows significant similarities. No clear relationship between role models and identity emerged for Generation Z, whereas such a relationship is partially present in Generation X.
