Abstract. The article examines transregional cooperation through the lens of ASEAN–EU relations amid growing importance of interregional engagement formats. Drawing on comparative and institutional analysis, the paper identifies the prerequisites for dialogue, the key stages of its development, and the contradictions arising from the asymmetry of the parties' political and economic influence. The study concludes that this partnership combines mutual interest in trade with elements of the EU's normative pressure on Southeast Asian states.
