Abstract. This article examines the application of the task-based learning (TBL) approach within the context of Russian language teaching methodology. The study is motivated by the absence of an established Russian-language equivalent for TBL. Its aim is to analyze existing translations of the term and to evaluate their practical application. The research employs a comparative literature analysis and a survey to gather data. Despite revealed terminological inconsistencies, the approach remains highly popular in practice, demonstrating the need to standardize its nomenclature for seamless integration into the national educational framework.
Keywords: foreign language, task-based approach, task-based learning, translation, comparative analysis, survey, problem-based learning, task-based learning, task-oriented approach
