Abstract. The study presents an analysis of the geopolitical and economic aspects of Russia’s Arctic Zone in the context of international cooperation. It emphasizes the environmental challenges arising from climate change and the intensification of economic activity. Against this backdrop, the paper examines how the Republic of Karelia intends to position itself and adapt to the new conditions.
