Formation and Development of Aerial Gymnastics in the Republic of Karelia

 Abstract. The primary aim of this study is to examine the historical development of aerial gymnastics in the Republic of Karelia and to assess its impact on the region’s cultural and sporting heritage. Today, aerial gymnastics is experiencing rapid growth in popularity both as a sport and performance art. An increasing number of individuals, including spectators and aspiring athletes, are drawn to this activity. Tracing the formation and evolution of this kind of sports helps to evaluate the effectiveness of existing instructional methods and identify new strategies for pedagogy and training within the field.
