Abstract. The significance of this topic stems from the growing interest in the historical development of training specialists for the military industry. In the first half of the 19th century, the Olonets mining factories emerged as the primary supplier of ship and fortress artillery for the Russian army and navy. This article examines the educational background of mining officers who organized and managed the work of the factories. The analysis of the official records of mining officers from the Olonets mining factories revealed that between 1790 and 1845 at least 24 individuals among them graduated from Saint Petersburg Mining Institute, which played a crucial role in the successful operation of the factories.
Keywords: mining officers, Olonets mining factories, Saint Petersburg Mining Institute, Saint Petersburg Forestry Institute
