Abstract. The article examines the combat encounters that took place on September 4-5, 1944, and analyzes the reasons why the Red Army units did not cease fire on September 5. It investigates the corresponidng orders and their dispatching to the officers of the 7th and 32nd Armies of the Karelian Front and describes the Order from the Supreme Command Headquarters regarding the ceasefire. The study concludes that the delay in implementing the ceasefire was due to the Finnish side's refusal to meet all the necessary conditions for its enforcement, however this delay did not influence the negotiations or result in losses for either side.
