The beginning of the Great Patriotic War in the Kandalaksha direction in the reflection of documents and memoirs

 Abstract. The article presents the events that preceded June 22, 1941, in the Kandalaksha direction of the Leningrad Military District in the context of the general situation. Arcticle describes the specifics of sources that tell about the activities of the military leadership in the last pre-war days. The chronology of events before June 22, 1941 is reconstructed. The insignificant role of the measures taken by the military command in the course of further events of June-July 1941 is shown.
