Abstract. This article uncovers a previously undisclosed chapter in the life of Evsey Gopstein, a prominent representative of the Crimean studies, showcasing his role in overseeing budget and finance matters in the Simferopol City Council. Through the examination of archival documents, diary entries, memoirs, and periodical materials, the author sheds light on Gopstein's involvement in financial and insurance documentation within the local government system and the Azov-Don Bank branch. By analyzing new sources, the study highlights Gopstein's significant contribution to Simferopol's financial affairs during the tumultuous revolutionary period of 1917-1920.
